Manifolds over complete nonarchimedean fields together with notions like tangent spaces and vector fields form a convenient geometric language to express the basic formalism of p-adic analysis. The volume starts with a selfcontained and detailed introduction to this language. This includes the discussion of spaces of locally analytic functions as topological vector spaces, important for applications in representation theory. The author then sets up the analytic foundations of the theory of p-adic Lie groups and develops the relation between p-adic Lie groups and their Lie algebras. The second part of the book contains, for the first time in a textbook, a detailed exposition of Lazards algebraic approach to compact p-adic Lie groups, via his notion of a p-valuation, together with its application to the structure of completed group rings.

Continuous representation theory of p-adic Lie groups 3 principle asserts that the set ƒ(G) of isomorphism classes of irreducible smoothrepresentations of G has a distinguished partitioning into flnite subsets ƒ‰0 which are indexed by equivalence classes of certain Weil-Deligne group representations ‰0 with values in LG. There is a particularly simple special case of this functoriality

compact p-adic analytic groups By Konstantin Ardakov and Simon Wadsley Abstract We prove that the canonical dimension of a coadmissible representation of a semisimple p-adic Lie group in a p-adic Banach space is either zero or at least half the dimension of a nonzero coadjoint orbit. To do this we establish analogues for p-adically completed enveloping algebras of Bern-stein’s inequality for

semisimple p-adic Lie groups. In recent years, several substantial results have been obtained concerning the representation growth and representation zeta. p-groups are realizable as the Galois group of an arithmetically profinite extension of a local field of characteristic 0.
